Makgeolli is a combination of the Korean words mak (meaning “roughly done” or “a moment ago”) and geolleun (“filtered”).

Rice Makgeolli is made with the rice fermentation method. Unlike the rice wine, Makgeolli is characterized by minimizing the destruction of nutrients generated during processing of rice and utilizing the unique flavor and taste.
